Meet The Team
DIRECTOR & LEAD SCIENTIST
Claire Gillan
Claire is Project Director and Lead Scientist for the Neureka App and The Gillan Lab. Claire and her team take a unique approach to studying brain health by combining mobile technology with citizen science to help create a clearer picture of what keeps the brain healthy. A key goal for this research is to develop objective tests that can be used to understand, predict and prevent disorders of the mind.
RESEARCH MANAGER
Anna Hanlon
Anna is a Research Manager at The Neureka Project. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the project, as well as supporting ongoing Neureka research. Anna has a strong interest in science communication and assists in the expansion and communication of results from The Neureka Project to the public, researchers, and clinicians across the world.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Kelly Donegan
Kelly is conducting her PhD under the supervision of Dr Claire Gillan as part of the ERC funded ‘Making and Breaking a Habit’ project. Her research will use smartphone-based assessments, electrophysiology, and causal manipulation in an attempt to uncover how habits form, how they interact with goal-directed capacity, and how they relate to mental health symptomatology.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Vanessa Teckentrup
Vanessa is a postdoctoral researcher on The Neureka Project. Her goal is to build more appropriate models of individual behavior in key dimensions of cognition which can (a) help to elucidate neurobiological mechanisms driving psychiatric disorders and (b) help to develop predictive measures to identify individuals at risk and tailor treatment.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Sol Fittipaldi
Sol is a postdoctoral researcher working on the Latin American version of our app. Her research focuses on understanding dementia, loneliness, aging, and social cognition, bringing valuable insights to improve mental health care in these areas.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Paveen Phon-Amnuaisuk
Paveen is a PhD student working on Neureka. His research explores the development and worsening of psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) by analyzing active and passive smartphone data, offering insights into the environmental, behavioural, and cognitive factors involved in PLEs.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Mahmoud Eladawi
Mahmoud is a PhD student working on our app, focusing on using passive data to study dementia with Lewy bodies. His research aims to uncover patterns and insights related to this condition, contributing to a better understanding of its progression and effects.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Eoghan Gallagher
With a background in App development and game design, Eoghan is the Software Developer on The Neureka Project and is responsible for the application build, user interface and user experience.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Kartik Singh
Kartik is our back-end Software Developer on The Neureka Project. Kartik responsible for ensuring our apps run smoothly behind the scenes. He manages data flow, server performance, and system security to keep everything functioning seamlessly.
Alumni
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Celine Fox
Celine completed her PhD, under the supervision of Dr Claire Gillan. Using Neureka, Celine worked with longitudinal clinical and cognitive data, collected regularly within subjects. She used a variety of methods including machine learning with the goal of understanding how an individual’s compulsivity develops and changes over time.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Anna Marie Rosická
Anna is used Neureka to complete her PhD research which focused on the cognitive neuroscience of ageing and dementia. Her research interests include successful ageing, neurodegenerative diseases, social perception and prejudice, as well as the use of mobile technology in promoting health and behavioural changes.
UX DESIGNER & QA TESTER
Ana Petre
Ana is a Neuroscience graduate at Trinity College Dublin. She has contributed to testing the early stages of the Neureka App and is currently responsible for app design and user testing.
